EFB Webinar “City Strategies To Support Building Greening”

The webinar City strategies to support building greening which is scheduled for the 19th of June, 2024 at 4 p.m. (CET)

·       Dusty Gedge (United Kingdom) – Ambassador of the EFB, independent green roof and urban biodiversity professional working with Gentian Ltd.

Rebecca Gohlke from Germany will discuss municipal funding instruments for green roofs and façades. Her presentation will cover the varying levels of expertise and handling of funding instruments among cities, as well as the multiple benefits of building greening. She will outline both direct financial subsidies and indirect promotion methods, highlighting a comprehensive municipal promotion strategy that includes demanding, promoting, and informing. The current state of funding opportunities in Germany will also be presented.

Pavel Dostal from the Czech Republic will address the benefits of green roofs and walls, which are often privately funded despite their societal advantages. His presentation will explore the need for regulation and incentivization of building greening at municipal and national levels. Using various examples, he will discuss traditional and novel approaches to supporting building greening initiatives by both public and private sectors.
