National Association for Greening Roofs and Facades (GRoF)
The National Association for Greening Roofs and Facades, founded in July 2024 is a voluntary, extra-party professional association that operates with the aim of developing and affirming space culture, protecting the natural and human environment and sustainable development, promoting holistic sustainable solutions in accordance with the profession ethics. Since 2025, they are part of the EFB network.
To address the public, we adopted the acronym GRoF.
G stands for Green
Ro – stands for Roof &
F stands for Facades.
Mission and current status
Green roofs have been implemented in Croatia for decades, and despite this, green roofs have only been included as a concept in building regulations through sustainable construction initiative (NzeB). But this is just the beginning. There is still a lot left to be defined, so that greenery on buildings becomes a factor that is taken into account in the buildability of a plot. The aim of this association is to define stronger principles and standards for greening roofs and facades.
Our mission is to bring together interested entities from the economy, school institutions and administrative units, in order to bring the topic of greening the buildings into order, in the currently rather chaotic market.
