The Nature Of Cities Festival 2024
The Nature of Cities (TNOC) is thrilled to announce the TNOC Festival 2024, a global gathering of scientists, artists, and practitioners dedicated to pushing the boundaries of transdisciplinary collaboration. This year’s theme, “The distance between dreams and reality is action,” reflects the festival’s commitment to inspiring tangible change and creating resilient cities that benefit both nature and people. TNOC Festival 2024 spans multiple events from April to June, beginning with two weeks of virtual programming (April 15-26) and concluding with a five-day, in-person workshop in Berlin (June 4-7). The festival is a collaborative effort with key partners, including The City of Berlin, The Nature Conservancy, Atelier Gardens, and the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. The focus of TNOC Festival 2024 is on actionable outcomes. The festival will culminate in the publication of a global action toolkit and guidebook, available in German and English, among other languages. TNOC Festival emphasizes inclusivity and aims to lower barriers to participation. Through transdisciplinary dialogue, small group workshops, arts engagement, and a collaborative spirit, the festival seeks innovative solutions for the complex challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and inequity.
Produced by The Nature of Cities, a 501(c)3 registered non-profit in New York, TNOC Festival made its debut in 2019 in collaboration with the City of Paris. Since then, it has evolved into a unique serial format, incorporating both virtual and in-person events. The festival’s adaptability ensures global participation and diversity. The in-person segment in Berlin will be hosted by Atelier Gardens, featuring plenary talks, art engagement, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and field trips. Over 100 sessions, including contributions from affiliations from all over the world, are scheduled. Distinguished speakers such as Prof. Dr. Johannes Vogel, Theresa Williamson, David Kendal, Dagmar Haase, Charles Karangwa will share their insights among others. Registration is open globally, with various options to remove barriers to participation. Limited tickets are available, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.

World Green Infrastructure Congress is the leading global event promoting an exchange of knowledge and inspiration between professionals, companies, associations, institutions, public authorities and scientists to discuss nature-based solutions. Our reliance and impact on the environment underline the need for sustainable urban environments, where biodiversity, water and society are regenerated.
The goal of the 2024 Congress is to catalyse the use of nature-based solutions in urban environments. By coming together as an international community with experience and expertise, we aim to progress action on climate resilience, both environmentally, socially and economically.

Local leaders play a crucial role in not only meeting global and European climate targets, but taking sustainability to the next level. In 2024, they will gather in Aalborg (Denmark) for the 10th edition of the European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns (ESCT) to discuss, share ideas, and bolster their role in guiding Europe towards a secure and sustainable future.
The 2024 conference will once again demonstrate the urgent need for local governments to assume responsibility for urban transformation and lead the way in guiding Europe towards a secure and sustainable future. This will be Aalborg’s third time hosting an ESCT conference; their first times led to the ground breaking Aalborg Charter (1994) and Aalborg Commitments (2004), both of which have been recognised as local sustainability milestones.
Join over 800 participants from local and regional governments, European and international institutions, multilateral organisations, the research community, businesses, and civil society to be part of the movement for transformational change. Mark your calendars now!
The 2024 edition of this flagship conference series on local sustainable development will build on the legacy of previous conferences including, most recently, the 2020 conference that led to the Mannheim Message. ESCT 2024 will continue to the call for core systemic changes and key policy shifts needed to bring about transformation for a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Europe.

World Green Roof and Green Façade Congress Basel
Will the city of the future be greener?
Global warming increases the overheating of cities worldwide. More and more people today live in traffic-optimized urban areas characterized by concrete and asphalt. Significant cooling effects can be achieved on and around buildings with plants and their evaporation capacity.
Basel is considered the “world capital of green roofs”. With the scientific-practical world congress as well as a complementary Green Building Week, knowledge transfer is combined with illustration on practical examples through excursions in Basel and throughout Switzerland.
Uniting Experts in Science,
Planning, and Architecture
The World Congress is aimed at scientists, planners, architects, landscape architects, construction experts, greening specialists and representatives of public authorities.
Safe the Date
The World Congress on Green Roofs and Facades Basel 2025 will be held on June 19 and 20, 2025, in the historic Kollegiengebäude of the University of Basel. The Green Buildings Week will take place from June 16 to 20, 2025 with a variety of excursions, guided tours, lectures and specialized courses.
