The french asscociation ADIVET published a new book about Living Roofs- Building with plants on a roof!
Even if they come from the dawn of time with the gardens of Babylon, green roofs have been rediscoverd with the developement of flat roofs since the 20th century. Now supported by the law, they have begun to be included in planning texts. They are therefore a current subject.
With over 20 years’ experience behind it, Adivet has published a book dedicated to green roof terraces, published by Eyrolles. Aimed primarily at building owners, architects, design offices and economists, but also at anyone interested in the subject, this book presents green roofs in an accessible way. It provides the essential reference points for learning more about these special structures, where the worlds of building and plants come together to design successful, sustainable projects.
The first part of the book describes the many services provided by living roofs and presents the different types of roofs that exist, from extensive green roofs to vegetable roofs and biosolar roofs.
In the second part, a technical booklet details the technical elements that need to be mastered in order to properly design and build living roofs, including renovation projects and projects for private individuals, so that every project is a success and meets expectations.
The whole book is punctuated by the presentation of exemplary projects, described from different angles, depending on the chapter in which they are found, to give an applied vision of the elements mentioned.
